Tony Blair and George W. Bush stand accused

From an article by a Emeritus Professor of Law, as published in a prominent Malaysian paper:

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair … stands accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity by many learned and independent scholars of international law. The case against him looks rock solid, especially after his confession to the BBC and the Chilcot Inquiry that he would have gone to war to topple Saddam Hussein regardless of the issue of Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction. Indictments around the world include:

> The International Criminal Court to which Britain is a signatory has received a record number of petitions against Blair.

> The World Tribunal on Iraq held in Istanbul in 2005 heard evidence from 54 witnesses and published rigorous indictments against Blair, former US president George W Bush and others.

> The Brussels War Crimes Tribunal, the Blair War Crimes Foundation and the American international law jurist Richard Falk have amassed impressive evidence of Blair’s complicity in international war crimes.

Spain’s celebrated judge Baltasar Garzon (who indicted former Chilean dictator and president Augusto Pinochet) has called for Bush, Blair and former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar to be prosecuted for the illegal invasion of Iraq, which Garzon has condemned as “one of the most sordid and unjustifiable episodes in recent human history”.

The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission, after two years of meticulous investigation, received first-hand evidence from Iraqi victims of war that there have been grave violations of the international law of war in Iraq. Last year, the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal, consisting of several international jurists – including Richard Falk from the US, Alfred Webre from Canada, and Niloufer Bhagat from India – unanimously adjudicated that Bush and Blair do not enjoy any immunity in international humanitarian law.

The world needs to be reassured that international humanitarian law is not applied and enforced in a racist and selective way against Asian and African tyrants only. Imperial politicians from the West who destroy millions of lives should not, any more, be immune from justice.

  1. […] Tony Blair and George W. Bush stand accused « Moral Outrage […]

  2. General Sir Michael Ross, British born Commander of UN Peace Keeping Forces in Bosnia, is also campaigning that Blair and Bush should stand trial on charges of war crimes and violating international principles.

Then British Ambassador to the United States, Sir Christopher Meyer revealed that one year before the attack on Iraq, Bush and Blair had signed a secret deal to topple Saddam. They made four major allegations against Iraq.

They claimed that Saddam was connected with the 9/11 attack because he was the godfather of international terrorism. The second claim was that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) A third claim was that Saddam was trying to supply international terrorists nuclear arms by asking Niger Republic to supply significant amount of uranium. A fourth claim was made by Blair that British intelligence report revealed that Iraq was capable of launching a nuclear attack on British and European troops within forty five minutes.

All turned out to be false.

  3. Considering the Atrociousness against The U.S. on 911, where is the Line between the Terrorists Justification? And The Terrorists Motives? Surely there is a Cause for The War somewhere, is it not against Terrorism, and why did Saddam Leave His Country open to Attack without warning anyone He was unarmed? So Bin Laden could get by with it? So the War would be fought? The Message in this is so One sided and WE All Know that Saddam Killed a bunch of Muslim’s too. With Genocide Right? The other message is when did Saddam get rid of His Weapons of Mas Destruction? Was it when they trucked them through the Desert, just before the Attack? Or when the Weapons Inspectors knew He was harboring them just a Year Before? What Intel did the U.N. provide also? Did they support the Iraqi’s or The Terrorists or Both? Why is it when Bad things Happen that Good People get Blamed for it? Did 911 Happen in Baghdad or N.Y. City? I guess they were right That it was Pre-Planned and Al-Qaeda wrote the Script on this one.

  4. just want to say thanks, keep up all the good work, Pam.

  5. Update: WikiLeaks reveals that 3 months into Barack Obama’s presidency, the administration turned to a Florida senator to deliver a sensitive message to Spain:

“Don’t indict former President George W. Bush’s legal brain trust for alleged torture in the treatment of war on terror detainees,” warned Mel Martinez on one of his frequent trips to Madrid. “Doing so would chill U.S.-Spanish relations.”

The episode, revealed in a raft of WikiLeaks cables, was part of a secret concerted U.S. effort to stop a crusading Spanish judge from investigating a torture complaint against former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and five other senior Bush lawyers.
