Bradley Manning and WikiLeaks’ truth can set us free

Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern spoke at a rally on Sunday in support of Pfc. Bradley Manning, the young soldier who is alleged to have given classified material to WikiLeaks. Manning is currently detained by the U.S. military at Quantico, Virginia, where the rally was held. The following are some of McGovern’s remarks:

“In times like this we must be careful to keep our bearings, lest we come to love the chaos that passes for reality.

“This is why we need to honor our brother Bradley Manning. He was not afraid to face the unknown; not afraid to resist the seduction of conformity; not afraid to follow his conscience, AND not afraid to give us the wherewithal to distinguish truth from lies so that we, too, can follow our conscience.

“Bradley Manning dared to mock the falsity parading as reality after our country had a nervous breakdown as a result of 9/11 and the efforts of those who would use 9/11 to stoke our fear.

“What Private Manning is alleged to have done with the help of WikiLeaks is to puncture the boil of injustice and deceit. What WikiLeaks has released is documentary evidence of what is really going on — otherwise known as the truth.”

  1. When does Compromising the Truth about 911, become a Necessary Evil? For what purpose is the Truth doing to America? It is truly Killing our Forces and Killing Our Freedom when the Single lies told about the Truth become more Important than The Freedom we have secured by not telling the Enemy What we are doing. If the Foreign Policy was determined by a Conspiracy, then How is Our Freedom Established? Yeah but By the Grace of God and no man can determine what God’s will is For The Human Race, and the Enemy must never have the Power to determine that For Us either. God is Doing Fine in America if the Misery is too Great for the Whistle Blowers then they should Find another Country to Destroy with their Magic Truth that is so Important that Our Forces must Give their lives to appease the Madness of Self Will Run Riot, and the People of this Wiki Leaks are the Devils advocate for Killing our Nations Heroes, as well as many other Innocent People that the Wiki leaks seem to have all the answers for.

    • I’m not following what any of this has to do with “compromising the Truth about 9/11”?

But in response, allow me to pose a question: Do Americans deserve to know the truth about the abuses and even war crime committed by the U.S. military? For example, reports revealing how coalition forces have killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents.

Bradley Manning, a U.S. Army private, believed he saw war crimes being committed by the U.S. military and shared the information so the American public could know what the armed forces were doing. His goal in releasing them was to hopefully spark discussion, debates, and reforms, his goal for “people to see the truth… regardless of who they are… because without information, you cannot make informed decisions as a public.”

But he did so knowing that there are those that are so blind that they do not see.
