WikiLeaks reveals US lies and injustices with allies

A sampler of what Wikileaks has published revealing the US role in:

Spain – The US worked with high-ranking officials in Spain to try to derail legal accountability for torture by US officials. Spain had opened two judicial inquiries into torture allegations against US officials at Guantanamo. The Spanish prosecutor promises to proceed slowly and to try to make sure the case is not assigned to the most pro-human rights judge in Spain, Judge Garzon. It is noteworthy that Garzon was later indicted in April 2010 for probing into Spanish civil war atrocities in a way that Spanish government said was an abuse of power.

UK – UK officials “promised that the UK had put measures into place to protect [US] interest during the inquiry into the causes of the Iraq war. He noted that Iraq no longer seems to be a major issue in the US, but he said it would become a big issue – a feeding frenzy – in the UK when the inquiry takes off.”

Yemen – Amnesty International released pictures of a US manufactured cruise missile that carried cluster bombs used in December 17, 2009 attack on a community in Abyan, Yemen which killed 14 alleged members of Al Qaeda and 41 local residents – including 14 women and 21 children. At the time Yemeni officials said that its forces had carried out that attack, not the US. After Wikileaks disclosures, it is clear that the US carried out the attack and both countries were lying.

Thailand – A military coup deposed the elected government in Thailand while the Premier was at the UN, the US reminded Thai military coup leaders of an earlier conversation that promised US aid would be cutoff if there was a coup. The cable makes it clear that the US knew of the planning for the coup in advance.

Honduras – After “the June 28 [2009] forced removal of President Manuel “Mel” Zelaya” from Honduras, “the Embassy perspective is that there is no doubt that the military, Supreme Court, and national congress conspired on June 28 in what constitutes an illegal and unconstitutional coup against the Executive Branch … There is equally no doubt from our perspective that Roberto Micheletti’s assumption of power was illegitimate.”
Yet, a month later, a Special Briefing by US State Department included this exchange with a journalist Sergio Davila: “If it is determined that this was a military coup, there will be things that will kick in. … There’s a lot of discussion about who did what to whom and what things were constitutional or not.”

The US backpedaling on the coup in Honduras continues to this day.

Worldwide – Wikileaks has revealed evidence of US human rights abuses around the world.

  1. I STILL HAVE BUT ONE QUESTION ON THESE WIIILEAKS, IS IT FAIR TO THE WORLD TO BLAME AMERICA FIRST AND LEAVE ALL JUDGEMENTS AND CONVICTIONS at our doorstep when the world at large is assuming their own political innocense will be sufficient to maIntain the destruction of DEMOCRACY? I FEEL THAT AMERICA HAS THE RIGHTS TO DEFEND OUR NATION AGAINST TERRORIST JIHADIST SUPPORT AND THE THREATS TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING TO OUR WAYS OF GOVERNANCE TOO. AFTER ALL WE HAVE BEEN ATTACKED BY TERRORIST JIHADISTS AND ARE DIRECTLY SUPPORTING MANY IMPOVERISHED NATIONS IN THE FREEWORLD SO WE MAY NATURALY GET INVOLVED IN THEIR BUSINESS AND END SOME TERRORIST JIHADIST SUPPORT TOO. AFTERALL IM JUST SO SURE THAT NO OTHER NATIONS ONNJ EARTH HAVE EVER DECIEVED OUR GOVERNMENT TOO. THEY SOMETIMES GET WHAT THEY DESERVE TOO.

    • While it apparently is the American government’s time to face the light on some of its political shennangins overseas, in no way is this to imply that all other nations are innocent of the same!

While much of WikiLeaks’ releases deal with American politics, they provide ample insights into dealings by quite a number of countries worldwide

One thing we do know is that what goes around comes around, and nations do reap what they sow, and things done in darkness will be brought to light.

  2. I STILL HAVE A DREAM, AND THE FIRST PERSON I REMEMBER SAYING THAT WAS DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JUST BEFORE HE WAS MURDERED AS WELL AS PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY WHOM SAID “ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT RATHER WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY”. BETWEEN THESE 2 PEOPLE AND ROBERT KENNEDT AND THE PRESIDENT TRUMANS WAY OF DEALING WITH ASSHOLES IN THE WORLD AT LARGE, I BELIEVE THAT WE ARE RIGHT ON TARGET AND RIGHT ON TIME FOR A VICTORY THAT MAY WELL END ALL WAR FOR A VERY LONG TIME. THAT WAS WHAT WINSTON CHURCHILL MEANT TO ME WHEN HE SAID DURING THE NAZI BOMBING CAMPAIGNS OF WORLD WAR II, WHEN HE SAID” THIS IS OUR FINEST HOUR”. THE NAZI OR HITLERS MANUALWAS ADOPTED BY THIS ISLAMIC JIHAD AS THEIR BATTLE STRATEGY. AND THE VICTORY WILL BE THE SAME FOR THEM TOO. THE FREE WORLD IS NOT ALWAYS A PICNIC IN THE PARK, BUT GOD REQUIRES A SACRIFICE. “WE WILL OVERCOME”
