Wikileaks Julian Assange to be extradited to Sweden?

District Judge Howard Riddle has ruled Wikileaks founder Julian Assange should be extradited to Sweden to face sexual assault allegations.

Assange will appeal against the court ruling. He has been released on bail on the same terms he was granted in December. Supporters had put up money as security.

The Assange legal team contest the WikiLeaks founder would not receive a fair trial in Sweden.

During the hearing two weeks ago, Mr Assange’s lawyer, Geoffrey Robertson QC, said his client could later be extradited to the US on separate charges relating to Wikileaks – and could face the death penalty there.

  1. Update: Lawyers for Julian Assange have filed an appeal against his extradition to Sweden to face questioning on sex charges.

The appeal was submitted to London’s High Court, but lawyers do not expect the case to be heard for another two or three months.

  2. Am writing a thesis on Public Trust in Government, WikiLeaks and the Media and need to know what your opinions are. The online survey is multiple choice and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Please follow the link: Would be great if you would encourage others to do the survey also.
