US drones kill 85 in Somalia
A US drone strike has killed at least 15 civilians and injured dozens of others in the southern region of war-torn Somalia, Press TV reports. This recent strike follows a similar strike in the same region on Friday, which killed at least 70 people.
This latest attack, besides leaving at least 15 people dead, injured another 43 in the southern town of Bilis Qooqani near Afmadow.
Somalia is the sixth country where the United States military has used remote-controlled drone aircrafts to launch targeted operations and killings. (The US military has also used drones in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq, and Yemen.)
The airstrikes continue as the African nation continues to struggle with its famine and water-borne diseases, killing tens of thousands of children over the past months.
